Chisinau, 5 January /MOLDPRES/- One of the biggest companies of Moldova, which manages 60 PECO filling stations, today cheapened petrol and diesel by 0.40-0.45 lei per one liter. The pump prices for the most demanded Premium 95 petrol decreased to 16.95 lei per liter, and on diesel oil to 15.95 lei per liter at the filling stations of the Rompetrol Moldova company.
Most companies continued to sell the Premium 95 petrol at 17.37-17.38 lei per liter, and Euro 5 diesel - 16.35-16.37 lei per liter.
On the next days, the other importers and traders are expected to cut prices as well. This would be the third reduction of the last five weeks. The last one, by 0.20 lei per liter, was made on 21 December 2014.
The drivers expect a higher decrease in fuel prices, against a background of a drop in quotations at international stock exchanges. At the U.S. exchange, the "black gold" was quoted at 51.4 dollars per barrel on the first day of the week, whereas the Brent oil, relevant for Europe, decreased to 55.36 dollars per barrel. On 5 January, the oil price reached the lowest level of the last five years and a half, given that there is a surplus worldwide, as well as a low demand. In 2014, the oil prices fell by over 50 per cent.
On the other hand, the oilmen said they would incur losses, in case of higher cuts, given that the Moldovan leu depreciated by about 20 per cent against the U.S. dollar in 2014.
