Five Moldovan MPs give up mandates

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - Five lawmakers of the current parliament, holding incompatible offices, have ruled to give up their MP mandates in favour of the posts they held before their election to the parliament. The deadline for the submission of resignation applications has expired.
The representatives of the parliament's communication and public relations department told MOLDPRES that the applications on resignation from the post of MP were signed by Liberals Dorin Chirtoaca, Mihai Moldovanu and Veronica Herta. Liberal Democrat Grigore Belostecinic filed the fourth application.
Ocnita district head Ion Toma, elected on the lists of the Party of Communists (PCRM), has also previously said he decided to waive the deputy mandate. His request has yet to make it to the parliament for approval. MP vacancies will be assigned to alternate candidates on the lists of the Liberal Party (PL), Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), and PCRM.
Lawmakers holding offices incompatible with the MP mandate were given 30 days from the date of validation of mandates by the Constitutional Court, to choose one office to exercise henceforth.
