Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Russian authorities sent over 2,000 Moldovans back home at the border and another 400 were expelled from Russia in 2014.

The Border Police has informed that persons who were banned from entering Russia said the border authorities did not reason their refusal in any way, although most of them had not been previously to Russia.

In past December, the Border Police’s staff recorded 302 cases when Moldovans were denied from entering Russia, by five-fold more than four months ago.

At the same time, starting from 28 April 2014, when Moldovan citizens holding bio-metric passports got the right to travel without visas to EU, 238 Moldovans were denied access to the European Union and another 108 people were expelled.
