Moldovan president consults parliamentary factions on nominating candidate for PM office

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Nicolae Timofti initiated consultations with the parliamentary factions in order to nominate a candidate for the office of prime minister, in accordance with the Article 98 of Moldova's Constitution, the presidency's press service has reported.
Today, President Nicolae Timofti held consultations with members of the parliamentary faction of the Party of Socialists. (PSRM).
At the meeting, the president asked for the opinion of Socialist MPs about possibility of creating a parliamentary majority to appoint a candidate for the office of prime minister and possible support for the investiture of a new government.
PSRM MPs said they did not participate in negotiations on the establishment of a parliamentary majority and did not make proposals for the office of prime minister.
The Party of Socialists' representatives expressed willingness to support the swearing in office of a new government, only provided that exclusively political conditions are observed. The conditions regard negotiations between the parliamentary factions and are not within the competence of the president.
