Moldovan Liberal Democrats, Democrats, Communists opt for speedy election of parliament leadersip

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Democratic Party (PDM) and the Party of Communists (PCRM) today held a new round of talks. At the end of the meeting, they opted for unlocking the work of the parliament and electing its leadership as soon as possible.

PDM Deputy Sergiu Sirbu said the discussions were constructive and that their results could be made known in a few days. "We need to find certain solutions, in order to as soon as possible have a parliament meeting to elect its leadership. All of us understand that either we have stability or we are faced with the prospect to have early elections. We hope to have more results of these consultations in a few days. We have two or three days available, no more", specified Sirbu.

PLDM Deputy Vadim Pistrinciuc said that, during the meeting, the parties' representatives discussed the parliamentary agenda. "The most urgent matter is the formation of the working structures of the parliament. We are discussing the agenda of the parliamentary priorities, beginning with the structures that will make it possible for the parliament to work and, not in the least, the legislative priorities", concluded the Liberal Democrat.

PCRM lawmaker Artur Resetnicov said the representatives of the three parties discussed the priorities of the parliament and electing its leadership .so that "the parliament’s activity be unblocked". "We see understanding on behalf of these parties that it is necessary to urgently initiate the activity of the parliament”, said Resetnicov.

The participants in the talks stated that the dialogue would continue. The first meeting between PLDM, PDM and PCRM was held on 13 January.
