Moldovan Liberals tackle negotiations on creation of ruling coalition

Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - Liberals believe that negotiations led by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PD) with both the Liberal Party (PL) and the Party of Communists (PCRM) “resemble with our country’s attempt to choose between the East and the West”.

"These negotiations with PCRM on the one side and PL on the other, very much resemble Moldova’s throes to divide between the West and the East, more specifically between the standards imposed by the EU and the lack of standards that Russia accepts. It is exactly the same situation in this case", said PL Deputy Valeriu Munteanu interviewed by the agency.

The Liberal MP said that the round of negotiations scheduled for the previous evening, on 14 January, was cancelled at the request of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party, which allegedly said, according to Munteanu, that they were not ready for a new round of negotiations with PL. The meeting between the three parties is set for today, but the exact time of the meeting has not been established yet.

"We hope that PLDM and PDM will give priority to the deep reforms that PL is requesting and which must be included in the text of the Agreement on establishing the alliance. Our half-heartedness or hesitation will lead Moldova in an unknown direction and will disappoint the voters put their trust in us", said Munteanu.

Negotiations between PLDM, PDM and PL on the establishment of a governing coalition began in early December 2014. PLDM and PDM recently initiated discussions with PCRM.
