Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - The German parliament (Bundestag) voted in the first reading the draft on the ratification of the EU's Association Agreements with Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia on 16 January.
During the plenary session held at the Bundestag, German Foreign Minister of State Michael Roth said that the Association Agreements signed with the three countries would help the latter achieve the envisaged reforms, offering them support by European partners.
"Our Eastern neighbours are taking open steps towards modernisation and democratisation. I am satisfied with the progress so far. Currently, all we have to do is to put into practice the provisions of the agreements, which will fundamentally change the three countries", said Michael Roth.
For the draft to be adopted, it will be voted on in two readings. So far, the document was ratified by Romania, Latvia, Malta, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Sweden, Croatia, Poland and Denmark.
The Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union was signed on 27 June 2014 and ratified by the Moldovan parliament on 2 July 2014, a procedure that all EU member states will carry out.
