Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - An extraordinary meeting of Joint Control Commission (JCC) was held on 15 January, at a proposal by the Russian co-chair of JCC, the Moldovan delegation to the JCC has reported.
The assistant of the military attaché from the Russian Embassy in Moldova, Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandr Grudin as confirmed as new member of Russian's delegation.
The Moldovan delegation insisted on including on the agenda the topic on the free movement of persons in the Security Zone, as well as monitoring law-enforcement bodies deployed in the Security Zone, under the aegis of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission, Russia and Ukraine.
The Tiraspol representatives, just as at the previous meetings, categorically opposed the inclusion of these topics on the agenda of the meeting, further stating that the subject was not within JCC’s competence. The Moldovan delegation made more factual arguments from the Commission's previous practice, confirming the correctness of the Chisinau-based authorities’ position.
Given the lack of consensus on the approval of the agenda, the meeting was postponed for the next week. The sides agreed to continue consultations with the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, as well as the OSCE Mission, to identify solutions to unblocking the situation, on the basis of the proposals.
