Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today conveyed a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Diplomat's Day, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The message says:
"Dear colleagues, dear friends!
I warmly greet you on the occasion of Diplomat's Day, which we celebrate today for the second time, and I wish you great achievements and fulfillment in everything you do!
When, in 2013, we established this professional day, we had the idea that it will be one more reason to turn into account the diplomatic service. A service whose employees manage a very important sector of the state, who have a major role in affirming the national interest of the country, but who often remain in the shadows. And this, because this is a specific area, in which the results represent only the tip of an iceberg made up of a lot of effort, persistence and consistency - i.e. of professionalism.
We opted for the day when, in 1992, Moldova applied for membership of the United Nations, considering that it is a symbolic date for our aspirations to create a prosperous and democratic state. Since then, the national diplomatic service has grown and matured with Moldova. Together we went through hard times, but also beautiful moments. And I am proud of the fact that, together, we succeeded in making Moldova break from its anonymity within the international political stage and make its voices heard in key issues in the region.
The fact that our country is presently appreciated by foreign partners, the fact that we have made significant progress towards European integration - Moldovan citizens travelling freely in EU countries and our goods gradually penetrating EU markets – is, in great part, the merit of the diplomatic service.
For this, I congratulate you and thank you all - ambassadors who, through their dedication, contribute to strengthening our country's image in the world; consular missions' employees, who assist our citizens abroad; but also those who work at home, at the Foreign and European Integration Ministry.
I wish you to remain, just as united and strong, both in crisis management - like those which unfortunately affect our region nowadays - and in achieving the objectives that contribute to the perpetuation of Moldova's independence, security and territorial integrity. And let 2015 be - thanks to you and for you - a year of new achievements for the good of the country and its citizens. "
