Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Democratic Party (PDM) and Liberal Party (PL) continued the talks on creation of a ruling coalition today.
The meeting lasted for about three hours. After the talks, PL leader Mihai Ghimpu said that the negotiations could have been finished a long time ago, if there was wish to set up an alliance. ”They have the possibility to choose between PL and the Party of Communists (PCRM). In my opinion, they chose the Communists. We do not want governance as it has been so far, we want changes. We do not claim any office, but they cannot also have all of them, there must be a balance,” Ghimpu said.
Democrat leader Marian Lupu had a different opinion. ”From our point of view, now the ball is on PL’s field. We have made more proposals, which PL did not accept. I mean the structure of the government and posts. I think that we have only another two days to conclude the political talks. Otherwise, we together with PLDM will have to identify any other formula, which is to ensure an efficient government. We will provide a government, with or without PL,” Lupu said.
Liberal Democrats’ leader Vlad Filat denied rumours as to setting-up a coalition or alliance with PCRM. ”We cannot make either a coalition or alliance together with PCRM. Yet, in the parliament, we will vote united with all MPs when problems of national interest will be put for voting. If we do not reach a compromise, in order to have a coalition between PLDM, PDM and PL, we will be forced to take a decision, which is not an easy one and this means to summon the parliament and attempt, when there is not a clear parliamentary majority, to unblock the situation. This deals with election of the parliament’s leadership and starting the procedure of swearing in office a government,” Filat said.
The negotiations between PLDM, PDM and PL started in early past December. At the same time, the Liberal Democrats and Democrats hold talks with PCRM too.
