Average pension covers 65 per cent of subsistence minimum in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - The average pension covers only 65 per cent of the subsistence minimum in Moldova, according to data provided by the National Social Insurances House (CNAS). The data shows that, starting from 1 January 2015, the average pension is 1,087 lei (approximately 55 euros) in Moldova.
At the same time, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, the subsistence minimum was 1,668 lei in Moldova in the first half of 2014.
National Social Insurance House Head of Planning Directorate Zinaida Mantaluta said the average pension had increased by 67 lei in Moldova against 2014. "This rise was due to the indexation of pensions by 6.45 per cent, which took place on 1 April 2014, following a government decision," said Mantaluta.
She also said that pensions for certain categories of employees in civil aviation were on average 5,788 lei. The average pension for the participants in the Chernobyl accident relief works is 2,363 lei, and some employees in culture have an average pension of 1,057 lei.
At the same time, the minimum age limit pension was 798 lei in Moldova on 1 January, and for employees in agriculture - 710 lei. The minimum pension for the first-degree invalidity is 568 lei, 548 lei – for the second degree and 386 lei for third degree.
On the other hand, Bucharest-based Finance Ministry data shows that the average pension is of more than 200 euros in Romania, about four times higher than the average pension in Moldova.
