Bilateral trade between Romania, Moldova continues to rise

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - The bilateral trade between Moldova and Romania increased by over 19.03 per cent in the first eleven months of 2014 against the same period of the previous year, up to 1.5 billion dollars. Romania reconfirms the position as main trading partner of Moldova, according to a statement by the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau.
Exports rose to more than one billion dollars, up by 20.51 per cent over the same period of 2013, while imports reached 461.48 million dollars, up by 15.88 per cent.
The largest weight in the volume of goods exported to Moldova, mineral products, represent more than 40 per cent, followed by technical machinery, tools and equipment, accounting for over 17 per cent of all exports. The main categories of goods purchased from Moldova are machinery, tools and equipment (over 48 per cent of the goods imported from Moldova) and common metals and metal products (over 17 per cent of all goods imported from Moldova).
Moldova ranked fourth among Romania’s export trade partners outside EU and ninth in imports on 30 November.
A number of 4,374 Romanian-Moldovan joint ventures were registered in Romania in September 2014, with a total capital of 43.14 million dollars invested in Romania.
