Committee for election of parliament speaker set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - A commission for the election of the parliament speaker was created at the parliament meeting today.
The commission includes MP of the Party of Socialists Vasile Bolea, Liberal Democrat Tudor Deliu, Party of Communists lawmaker Artur Resetnicov and Democratic Party MP Sergiu Sirbu. The Liberals refused to put up a candidate to the commission for the election of the parliament speaker.
The commission will receive proposals for appointing candidates for the office of parliament speaker, establish the model and text of the ballot paper, ensure the preparation and carrying out of the voting, as well as count the votes.
According to the Parliament Regulation, the parliament speaker is elected by secret voting. The candidate who receives the majority of votes from MPs is elected as speaker.
The parliament began its meeting in the absence of a ruling coalition.
