Joint Control Commission meeting cancelled

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ -The sides continued discussions on including on the agenda the topic, submitted by the Moldovan delegation, on the free movement of citizens in the Security Zone, at a meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on 22 January, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

In the context of the latest developments in the region, the participating delegations made additional proposals on the issue of the free movement of citizens, in order to unlock the situation within the JCC. To this end, the Moldovan delegation repeatedly advocated the need to include this issue on the agenda of discussions and  that OSCE Mission experts monitor the situation in the Security Zone.

Due to lack of consensus on the approval of the agenda, the JCC meeting was postponed for next week. At the same time, the sides agreed to continue consultations at the level of the of co-chairs on behalf of Russia, Moldova, Transnistria, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission.
