Earthquake shakes Romania, Moldova

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the Vrancea area, at a depth of 100 kilometres today at 09:55, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics in Romania.
It is the highest magnitude earthquake registered in Romania this year. The towns closest to the epicentre, located in Vrancea County, are: Focsani (39 kilometres), Covasna (41 kilometres) and Tirgu Secuiesc (49 kilometres). The earthquake was also felt in Moldova.
More earthquakes with magnitudes between 3.2 and 4.3 on the Richter scale zone took place in the Vrancea seismic zone in January 2015.
