India today marks national day

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - India marks its National Day today. It is a state in South Asia, located between Pakistan, China, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh and the Indian Ocean (Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea).
India includes 22 federal states and 9 autonomous territories. It has an area of 3.3 million square km and a population of 1.252 billion people. India ranks seventh in the hierarchy of countries bin terms of area, is on the second position as regards the number of inhabitants and is the most populous democracy. The state's capital is New Delphi.
It is an agrarian-industrial country. The Gross Domestic Product is made up of: 30 per cent - agriculture, 30 per cent industry and 40 per cent - services. The country exports iron and manganese ore, tea, rice, peanuts, spices, leather and leather goods, jute products, cotton fabrics, tobacco, vegetable oil. It imports equipment, industrial machines and devices, transport means, oil and oil products, consumer goods, food.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and India were established on 12 March 1992. Moldova and India signed seven bilateral agreements, three of which are in force.
According to the National Statistics Bureau, in January-April 2014, the value of exports to India was estimated at 84,100 dollars, decreasing against the same period of 2013, when the exports stood at 301,700 dollars. At the same time, Moldova imported goods goods amounting to 13,248,300 dollars, a bit more against the same period of 2013 - 12,137,000 dollars.
In 1993-2014, India offered Moldova scholarships for training specialists in such areas as economics, banking, standardisation through electronic accounting, computer science, management, decentralised planning of rural development, radiological sciences and diplomacy.
India proclaimed itself a republic on 26 January 1950.
