Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/- The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) proposed Iurie Leanca as candidate for the office of prime minister. PLDM leader Vlad Filat made statements to this effect today, after consultations held with President Nicolae Timofti.
„What we must do in the nearest future is to find the support of at least 51 MPs, in order to have not only a prime minister-designate, but also a sworn-in government,” Vlad Filat said. He was confident that the new cabinet would be sworn in „very soon”.
Nicolae Timofti today summoned the parliamentary factions of PLDM, Democratic Party, Party of Communists and Liberal Party for consultations, in order to designate a candidate for the post of prime minister.
Under the Constitution, the candidate for the office of prime minister is to request the parliament’s vote of confidence on the action programme and full list of the government within 15 days after appointment.
