Moldovan government considers attracting new foreign investor to national economy

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca met the board members of the Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN) company. SEBN expressed intention to invest in Moldova's economy, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
SEBN manufactures cables for the Volkswagen Group, including Skoda. The company plans to build its production premises in Chisinau and employ up to 2,500 workers. The Sumimoto board members spoke with Iurie Leanca about the investment project and actions to be jointly undertaken for it to run smoothly.
Acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that attracting foreign investment was and would be one of the main objectives of the Moldovan authorities.
"Each investment in the national economy is a catalyst for job creation, increasing the level of the population’s welfare and economic growth in general. We have concrete projects on technical vocational education, so that the training young people receive in colleges and vocational schools met the investors’ requirements towards workers", said Iurie Leanca.
In other news, Iurie Leanca stressed that more than 50 per cent of Moldovan goods were exported to the EU market. According to Leanca, the implementation of the provisions of the Free Trade Agreement, as well as Community standards would further increase this indicator.
Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze is a Japanese-German international company with 30,000 employees. Sumitomo Corporation is the parent company, which has approximately 400,000 employees globally.
