USA to earmark 168 million dollars to maintain security in Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia

Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/ - U.S. President Barack Obama made public the USA budget for 2016 on 2 February, which also includes 168 million dollars to combat Russia’s pressure on Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.
Under the document published on the White House’s official page, “the budget provides for 117 million dollars for fighting the Russian aggressive actions in Ukraine and 51 million dollars for combating Russia’s destabilising activities in Moldova and Georgia.”
“This assistance will support democracy and good governance in the above-mentioned countries, will increase the capacities of the security forces, will foster the rule of law state and anti-corruption measures and will promote the integration of these three countries into the European Union,” the document says.
The Moldovan-American ties were established in 1992. So far, the USA has provided over 1-billion-dollar-worth assistance to Moldova, in order to implement various projects and programmes.
