U.S.embassy announces new grant contest for Moldovan NGOs

Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/ - The U.S. embassy in Moldova today informed about a new contest of assistance grants within the Grants for Democracy Programme. To participate in the programme, Moldovan NGOs have to submit projects due to help develop democracy and civil society in Moldova, according to a press release by the U.S. embassy.

Participants in the contest may submit projects having as priorities consolidation and promotion of civil society, democratic institutions and environmental protection; institutionalisation of open, pluralist and democratic processes locally; civic education; participation of the public in taking decisions; free access to information, freedom of speech, management transparency and good governance; confidence-building.

The programme will not finance the providing of humanitarian aid or charity activities; health-related projects, political and party activities; scientific researches: conferences or private trips abroad; commercial activities.

The amount of provided grants will be from 5,000 up to 24,000 dollars. The deadline for submitting the projects is Monday, 2 March 2015, 18.00.
