Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Young musicians from both sides of the Dniester River performed with the Chisinau-based National Philharmonic today.
The event was organised by the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Moldova. According to a press release by the institution, young musicians studying at music lyceums from Chisinau, and Tiraspol, Bender and Pervomaisc-based art schools were able to perform on stage with professional musicians from the Symphony Orchestra.
"Music encourages dialogue; it was and still is used as a means to approach people, to promote reconciliation in post-conflict societies and create new links between communities. Therefore, we support this concert", said OSCE Mission to Moldova Head Michael Scanlan.
A number of approximately 300 children from more schools, including from the Transnistrian region, accompanied by relatives and teachers listened to the musicians. OSCE will organise another concert featuring young musicians from both banks of the Dniester in Tiraspol this year. The initiative was launched in 2011.
