UNDP launches joint public utilities company in south Moldova

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - A joint public utilities company (ICI), which provides public quality services to 15,000 inhabitants from three settlements, was launched in the Congaz village, southern autonomous region of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia).
Thus, the mayoralty of Congaz village cooperated with the Cotovscoe and Chioselia Rusa ones, in order to provide services for garbage collection, snow removal, roads maintenance and street lighting, as well as administration of water and sewerage systems.
The project is implemented by the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme (JILDP), with the support of UNDP and UN Women, and financial assistance of the Danish government. Within JILDP, 40 mayoralties of Moldova joined forces and set up 10 inter-community cooperation companies, which provide public services.
The total amount of grants provided for this type of projects is over 1 million dollars. The project’s beneficiaries are over 120,000 Moldovans.
