More economic agents from both banks of Dniester promote products on EU market

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 75 enterprises from both banks of the Dniester river promoted goods on the European Union market and enhanced their bilateral cooperation relations through a project conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova (CCI), with the financial assistance of the EU-UNDP Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme.
The participating companies’ results today were presented at a conference on completion of a project titled “Strengthening the capacity of small and medium enterprises of Moldova, including the Transnistrian region, through participation in specialised exhibitions and fairs”.
CCI Head Valeriu Lazar said the 75 companies participated with collective stands in 6 specialised international exhibitions, where they presented their products, exchanged experiences and identified business partners throughout 2014.
"The project was carried out between October 2013 and January 2015 and aimed to contribute to the development of cooperation between economic agents from both banks of Dniester and promote their goods on the foreign market. This project included the following sectors: industrial technologies, wine making, agriculture, food processing, textiles and footwear,” said Valeriu Lazar.
Attending the event, Delegation of the European Union to Moldova Political and Economic Section Head Wicher Slagter welcomed the participation of business people in the aforementioned project and highlighted the fact that, in this way, economic agents improved their skills to participate effectively in international exhibitions. They also gained valuable experience on the way the EU market works, new technologies and modern instruments in the field of promotion of goods. Due to the signing of new cooperation contracts, companies will increase their production capacity and income. The European Union would continue backing entrepreneurs from both banks to promote products on the European market, added Wicher Slagter.
In 2014, the EU-UNDP Programme beneficiary companies participated in specialised international exhibitions in Hanover (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Poznan (Poland), Paris (France), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Bucharest (Romania), said UNDP Moldova Assistant Resident Representative Doina Munteanu.
A CCI head of department, project manager Sergiu Harea said that, within these exhibitions, economic agents from the two sides signed 16 cooperation agreements and 24 protocols on cooperation opportunities with foreign partners. Simultaneously, this project enhanced the confidence of entrepreneurs from both banks, who initiated 18 business contacts.
