Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will pay a rate of 311 dollars for 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas in the first quarter of 2015, - by about 20 per cent less against the fourth quarter of 2014, according to a press release by the Economics Ministry.
The Russian giant Gazprom has recently informed the Moldova-Gaz company that the price of 311 dollars was set in line with the bilateral agreement on setting the rate for the imported gas, acting Deputy Economics Minister Valeriu Triboi said.
Moldova paid 376 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters of gas in the fourth quarter of 2014. The petroleum price cut prompted, to a great extent, the decrease in the gas rate.
The amendments on extension of the contract on conditions for gas supplies to Moldova for 2015 were signed on 11 November 2014. For the first time ever, the Moldovan negotiators team managed to complete the process before the cold season started. The basic price stipulated in the agreement is of about 332 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters.
Under the contract, 2.96 billion cubic meters of gas, of which one billion for the consumers from the right bank of Dniester, are to be imported in 2015. The gas transit across the territory of Moldova will rise to 18.6 billion cubic meters.
