Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu asked for Bulgaria’s support to open new European Union information centres in southern Moldova, such as the one in Taraclia, inaugurated in June 2014, with the support of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Andrian Candu made this request at a today meeting with Bulgarian Ambassador to Moldova Petar Vilov. Candu said that knowing the experience of other EU states on the European integration process would help Moldovans easier understand how they could take advantage of the opportunities due to be created.

„Moldova is determined to continue its European path and develop for the benefit of its citizens. The implementation of the Association Agreement will contribute to increasing investments in Moldova and will provide new opportunities to the Moldovan citizens, no matter whether they live on the left bank of Dniester, northern or southern Moldova. Therefore, it is important to have more information instruments and communicate more actively with the citizens,” Candu said.

Andrian Candu thanked the Bulgarian authorities for the support provided to Moldova in the European integration process. The speaker highlighted Moldova’s interest in enhancing the bilateral cooperation, especially at inter-parliamentary level, as well as in the economic and cultural sectors.

The officials also approached the Moldovan-Bulgarian cooperation within the regional formats, in which the two states participate. In the context, Petar Vilov requested Moldova’s support for setting up a permanent secretariat of the South-East European Cooperation Process in Sofia.

The Bulgarian community in Moldova has about 90,000 members, who live mainly in south of Moldova and Transnistria.
