Moldovan president, parliamentary factions tackle new candidate for office of premier

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Nicolae Timofti today continued consultations with the parliamentary factions to appoint a new candidate for the office of premier. The president discussed with Socialists, Liberal Democrats, Democrats and Liberals. At the same time, Timofti met Chiril Gaburici, who was proposed as a candidate for the prime minister office by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM).
After talking with the president, Chiril Gaburici said the prime minister capacity was a big responsibility, which he was ready to assume. The PLDM candidate added that he would start consultations with the parliamentary parties as well as representatives of trade unions and employers in the coming days.
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat expressed hope that the future government would meet the necessary votes in the parliament for him to be appointed.
The leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu said that the Liberals would support the government only if an alliance between PL, PLDM and Democratic Party (PD) was created. The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon also confirmed that the Socialists would not support Chiril Gaburici’s candidacy for the office of premier, after talks with Timofti.
On the other hand, the leader of the PD Marian Lupu said that Democrats would give the vote of confidence for the new government.
President Nicolae Timofti will take the final decision on the appointment of a candidate for the office of premier.
