Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister-designate Chiril Gaburici started talks on setting up the new government today. Gaburici met representatives of the Academy of Sciences (ASM) and the leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu.
After discussions at ASM, Gaburici said that more proposals by academicians would be included in the future government’s action programme. Gaburici added that the dialogue would be continued.
Following the meeting with Liberals, Mihai Ghimpu said the party’s political bureau would be summoned today evening, to decide on whether PL back or not Gaburici’s candidacy for the prime minister office. „We will see, if the decision is to be changed or remains the same: that PL will vote only for a government it is a member of,” Ghimpu said.
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vlad Filat also attended the talks between Gaburici and Ghimpu. Filat said the government’s action programme would not be changed significantly, so that its essence and goals remained the same. Filat added that Gaburici was to ask for the parliament’s confidence vote on 19 February at the latest.
Also today, Chiril Gaburici will meet representatives of trade unions, employers’ association and Communist MPs. Gaburici was nominated as candidate for the prime minister post on 14 February, after the voting of a new Leanca government failed.
