Moldovan premier-designate continues consultations on forming new government

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister-designate Chiril Gaburici today continued consultations on setting up a new government. After meeting Democratic Party (PDM) lawmakers this morning, he held talks with representatives of the civil society.
The prime minister-designate described as productive the discussions he had with civil society, stressing and that they had been focused on issues of fighting corruption, justice reforms, and Moldova’s European path. Gaburici said that some of the proposals of the civil society were already contained in the government 's action programme, while others would be included in the action plan of the future government.
National Council for Participation Vice-president Antonita Fonari said that she had asked the prime minister-designate to explain the criteria of professionalism and integrity that made him suitable for his office. "We as citizens must understand why exactly these are going to lead us, what makes them be the best for the job, and if this government would still follow the European path”, said Fonari.
Gaburici was designated as candidate for the office of prime minister on 14 February and he will request a vote of confidence in the parliament on the action programme and full list of the government members within 15 days. Prime Minister-designate Chiril Gaburici so far consulted representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Liberal, Democratic and Communist MPs, trade unions and employers on the creation of a new government.
