Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics Ministry is set to reorganise the energy sector enterprises involved in distributing and supplying power, in order to increase their economic profitability and improve the quality of services they are providing. Acting Deputy Economics Minister Valeriu Triboi has made statements to this effect at a workshop, with the participation of specialists in the energy sector.
Under the Law on electric energy and commitments taken by Moldova within different international bodies and conventions, the three power-distribution networks are to be divided into two entities, with distribution and, respectively, supply activities. Gaz Natural Union Fenosa has been already split, starting from 1January 2015. The same procedure will be applied to RED Nord and RED Nord-Vest state enterprises.
After the reorganisation by dividing, RED Nord and RED Nord-Vest are turning into a distribution enterprise, and the “Furnizarea Nord” stock company is created as electricity supplier, Triboi said.
”The reorganisation of these enterprises fits into the programme on modernising and optimising the Moldovan energy sector and its adjustment to the European standards,” the head of the General Energy Security and Efficiency Department at the ministry, Mariana Botezatu, said.
