European officials welcome swearing in office of new Moldovan government

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn have welcomed the appointment to post of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and the swearing in office of the government.
In a joint statement posted on the European Commission’s official webpage on 18 February, the above-mentioned European officials say they are looking forward to continuing cooperation with Moldova and faster implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
„A stable government, with a clear-cut reforms agenda, will be crucial in this respect. We are confident that the new cabinet will boost efforts in order to implement key reforms, especially the ones from the justice, financial sector and fighting corruption," the statement reads.
The European Union reiterates its support for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, with a special statute for the Transnistrian region and encourages the enhancing of efforts to peacefully settle the conflict.
