USA welcomes setting up of new Moldovan government

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - The U.S. Department of State on 19 February issued a press release, thereby voicing willingness to cooperate with the Moldovan government led by Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, in order to carry out the necessary reforms, including implementing the Association Agreement with EU.
According to the communiqué, “The United State of America maintains its commitment to help Moldova in fighting corruption and promoting the reforms leading to the European integration."
“As five-plus-two talks observer, the USA will continue looking for a peaceful solution to settle the Transnistrian conflict, will back Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, with a special statute for the Transnistrian region,” the press release says.
The new government, led by Chiril Gaburici, got a confidence vote of 60 Liberal Democrat, Democrat and Communist MPs on 18 February. On the same day, the EU officials welcomed the swearing in office of the new cabinet. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also informed, in a press release, that it "takes note of" the investiture of the new Moldovan government.
