Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will borrow a credit from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in order to restore the heating system from northern Balti city. The parliament ratified an agreement in this respect today.
The EBRD loan is worth seven million euros. Another three million will be provided as grant by the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund (E5P). Thus, the investment’s total amount is of ten million euros.
The project is to be implemented till late September 2017. Within the project, it is planned to install about 170 thermal substations in buildings connected to the heating supply system and three gas motors for generating combined thermal energy and electricity.
At the same time, pumps and fans of the heating network will be changed. A boiler based on biomass fuel will be set instead of the coal-based one at the CET - Nord S.A. company (Thermal Electric Power Station North). All these things are meant to reduce CO2 emissions, operational costs and improve energy efficiency.
