EU to continue backing Moldova's European integration, modernisation

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ -  Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Pirkka Tapiola today had a meeting. The officials discussed priorities of Moldova's European agenda and projects due to be carried out, the government's communication and media relations department has reported. 

Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici stressed that Moldova's European integration and directly the enforcement of the provisions of the Association Agreement with the European Union stayed at the basis of the government's new action programme.

For his part, Pirkka Tapiola congratulated Chiril Gaburici on his swearing in office and wished him success in the work of prime minister. Also, the European diplomat said the EU would continue backing the key reforms due to be implemented by the Moldovan government, meant to contribute to Moldova's modernising and advancement on its European path.

The sides agreed to continue cooperation under the agenda of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. The officials also said that, on the short- and medium-term, main emphasis should be put on the justice reform, fighting corruption, strengthening the financial and banking sector, reforming the public administration, economic development and investments attraction.
