Second stage of project on DCFTA-relates issues launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The second stage of a project titled, “Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Information and Building Capacities of Economic Agents,” was launched at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) today. The project is financed by the Swedish government, via the International Finance Corporation and implemented by CCI and the European Business Association.
CCI head Valeriu Lazar informed that business people of the agro-food sector and textiles industry would be trained within the project via 20 regional seminars on topics related to DCFTA's enforcement. Among them, there are EU market access rules, negotiation techniques, aspects of international contracting, marketing methods, conditions for getting international certificates, etc. The entrepreneurs will pay visits to Italy, including the Milan World Exhibition, as well as to Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which will accompanied by business forums.
Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola praised the cooperation between CCI and the European Business Association within the project, which contributed to getting closer Moldovan companies to the European market. EU will further provide assistance to Moldova, in order to develop economy and improve the living standards. ”The Moldovan companies are our good partners and we wish them every success in the second stage of the project, in order to be able to expand the promoting of goods on the European markets,” Pirkka Tapiola said.
“We witnessed the signing of the Association Agreement with EU and of DCFTA. Now, time is ripe for the Moldovan government, as well as for the private sector to implement crucial reforms, which would ensure Moldova’s competitiveness on the international markets,” Swedish Ambassador to Moldova Ingrid Tersman said. She emphasised that, to fully benefit from DCFTA, business representatives needed information about requirements imposed by the new trade regime, which represented the main goal of the campaign backed by Sweden.
The second step of the above-mentioned project is carried out in February – July 2015.
