Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Medication suppliers will be sanctioned for non-observing contractual provisions on procurement. In this respect, the cabinet today approved amendments to the Regulation on purchase of medications and other medical-related products.

Thus, for refusing to sell medications or other medical-related products stipulated by the procurement agreement, the seller will be fined with a penalty of 50 per cent of the contract total amount. So far, the penalties for medication non-supply have been of 5 per cent. At the same time, for delayed supply of medications, the seller will be fined with a penalty of 1 percent of the amount of non-supplied drugs for each delayed day, but not more than 50 per cent of the total amount of the agreement.

Health Minister Mircea Buga said that the modifications made had as target to make more responsible all actors involved in purchasing and supplying medications.

Since early 2015, medical institutions from Moldova faced lack of certain medications and consumable goods.
