„Good day,
I want to start the meeting with information about the market in Moldova. It is about the fluctuations in price, which take place right now. What has happened over the past two weeks – an avalanche of price increases and I refer especially to those for domestic appliances, we noted here a very high price increase. And I want to say that one of the tasks of the government is to control the setting up of prices, in order to ensure consumers’ social protection.
Thus, we have to react immediately. And, in this context, I address to the Economics Ministry, as the Agency for Consumers’ Protection is subordinated to the Economics Ministry, as well as to the Finance Ministry and fiscal bodies, which may react with controls, and the Competition Council, which supervises the market, should protect the market from abuses by those who hold the monopole.
I address to you, in order to intervene with legal mechanisms and instruments, which would allow controlling over price setting up, to be clearly for us at least, to understand how it happens, how prices are set up.
I ask the Economics Ministry, Finance Ministry and National Anticorruption Centre to intervene with these mechanisms, in order to clear up these price increases and I hope we could get them back to normal”.
