Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici starts his official visit to Brussels. Gaburici will have separate meetings with EU high-ranking officials, namely President of the European Council Donald Tusk, European Parliament President Martin Schulz, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, the head of the Delegation at the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, Andi Cristea, President of the European People’s Party Joseph Daul and other officials, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The talks will be focused on priority issues on Moldova’s European agenda and goals for continuing the dialogue between Moldova and the European Union. At the same time, the officials will address reforms under way in Moldova, especially those on justice, fighting corruption and sustainable economic development.
„The visit that I pay to Brussels is very important, as the European integration will be the cornerstone of the activity of the cabinet I lead. A basic attention will be paid to giving final touches to the justice reform, making more efficient activities on fighting corruption, ensuring economic growth, improving banking system management, etc. Moldova’s modernisation and, implicitly, providing the irreversibility to Moldova’s European path will have no chance without implementing these reforms and close cooperation with EU, in order ensure the taking over of the European standards at the highest level,” Chiril Gaburici said.
The Moldovan prime minister pays a visit to Brussels on 26-27 February, leading a delegation which includes Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman. This is the first visit by Chiril Gaburici abroad, after he was sworn in the office of prime minister.
