Moldovan Agriculture Minister gives details on resumption of apple exports to Russia

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/- Economic agents may require phytosanitary certificates for the export of apples from Moldova to the Russian market. The district directorates of the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) will issue them to this end.
Agriculture and Food Minister Ion Sula made the statement, after Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision had informed that ten companies from Moldova could resume the export of apples starting from today.
Ion Sula said the decision on partial cancellation of restrictions on export had been taken after discussions between the Moldovan and Russian authorities. He noted that the relaunch of apple supply was as an experiment, and after its conclusions, a decision would be taken as regards the resumption of total export of fruits from Moldova.
The minister said ANSA did not know on which crieria ten companies with the right to supply apples on Russian market had been selected. Ion Sula also added that about 60,000 tons of apples were in stock now in Moldova.
Russia announced in July 2014 that it ceased the import of fruits from Moldova.
