EU to provide every support to carry out reforms, to continue European integration

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/- On an official visit to Brussels, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today met President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz. The sides discussed the situation in the country and region, priorities of new government and European agenda of Moldova, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

"Although the government invested on 18 February is a minority one, I intend to ensure necessary support to continue the European integration process. In this context, the support we hope to further get from the European Parliament and from you personally is very important", he said. In this context, Gaburici highlighted the importance to turn to good account the interaction platform between the parliaments from Chisinau and Brussels.

For his part, Schulz welcomed the Moldovan government's intention to continue the European integration. "We appreciate the intention of the new government to follow the European vector and to ensure Moldova's pro-European future. The EU is a project of peace and stability. We are glad Moldova backs this direction. You have every necessary support from the EU for carrying out reforms and continuing direction to the EU", Schulz said.

The officials approached the projects implemented in Moldova with the EU support, so that Moldova should develop in all sectors. The sides highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional capacity and tackled the projects meant to modernize the country, especially, those on European energy infrastructure. "Energy independence is one of the priorities for the next period", Schulz said.

Gaburici invited Schulz to pay a visit to Moldova in 2015.
