Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) held an ordinary meeting in eastern Bender town on 26 February. The Russian delegation chaired the meeting, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
During the debates, Moldova’s delegation spoke out for continuing talks on free movement in the security zone and highlighted that representatives of the OSCE Mission and of Ukraine might present their visions on the issue.
OSCE Mission’s representatives voiced their deep concern about the Tiraspol’s decision to introduce movement restrictions for members of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, which impedes the monitoring of the situation in the region, thus being affected the activity and undermining OSCE’s role as mediator within the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
The sides also approached the organising of events commemorating persons died during the 1992 armed conflict. The Moldovan delegation informed JCC members about the commemorating activities, due in Corjova village, eastern Dubasari district and other settlements of the security zone, on 1-3 March.
In this respect, Moldova’s representatives requested that the law-enforcement bodies, together with representatives of the joint peacekeeping forces, to jointly ensure the public order during the events. The Transnistrian delegation accepted the proposal.
Due to lack of consensus on other items on the agenda, the Russian co-chair postponed the meeting for 5 March.
