Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will borrow 52.5 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in order to modernise the railways. The parliament ratified an agreement to this effect today.
The loan will be provided in two instalments. The money will be used for purchasing more new locomotives and restoring the rail infrastructure. In order to implement the project, Moldova will also receive a grant of about 5 million euros from EU, via the Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
The credit is provided for a 15-year period. The Moldova-EBRD loan agreement was signed in Chisinau on November 2014.
