Moldovan president meets UN resident coordinator

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- President Nicolae Timofti today met UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Dafina Gercheva, the presidential institution's press service has reported.
Timofti described numerous programmes carried out in Moldova over the last decades by the UN specialised agencies, which contributed to significant improvement of the citizens' living conditions. The president mentioned the assistance offered by the UNDP office on carrying out the reforms in justice, education and human rights protection.
The president reiterated the Moldovan authorities' commitment to cooperate with the UN Representation to implement the provisions of the United Nations -Moldova Partnership Framework for 2013-2017.
Gercheva announced the projects on strengthening institutional capacities as a priority for the next period, streamlined to the economic and social development of the country, as well as environmental protection.
The UN official welcomed holding a high-level meeting of global dialogue on strengthening institutional capacities for implementing the post 2015 development agenda, an event which brought together about 100 representatives of governments, international organisations, civil society and experts from more countries.
Timofti and Gercheva also discussed other issues related to cooperation between Moldova and UNDP.
