Participants in war of Transnistria to receive material aid

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The participants in the war of Transnistria, who returned with disabilities and the families of those who died in the conflict will receive one-off financial aid worth 1,000 lei (50 euros) each, according to the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry.

The money will be provided today, on 2 March, when the 23rd anniversary of actions for defending Moldova’s integrity and independence is marked. As many as 500 persons will benefit from the assistance. The money will be earmarked by the Republican Fund for Social Support of Residents.

Official data shows that about 29,000 people participated in the conflict, of whom 386 died and another 284 were injured. According to a parliament’s decision, the day of 2 March is declared as Memory Day.
