Moldovan PM, U.S. envoy broach economic cooperation

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/- The United States of America will further back Moldova. U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D.Pettit made a statement to this effect at his first meeting with Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, held in Chisinau today, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The two officials discussed a string of issues of the Moldovan-American ties and the cooperation sectors on the international stage. In particular, they approached the economic cooperation, implementation of joint projects in different fields, Transnistria-related issues and regional security.
The premier pointed out the priorities of the new government, among which continuation of the European integration, meeting commitments assumed before domestic and external partners, including the promotion of justice reform, as well as ensuring a sustainable economic growth. "We hope to have a closer cooperation with the USA, as well as with other partners to this end," he said.
For his part, the American diplomat congratulated Gaburici on the occasion of the investiture of the new government and his appointment to the office of prime minister. Pettit said a visit to Chisinau by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony J.Blinken, due on 3 March, meant the American support for Moldova and wish to to contribute to democratic transformations in the country. "We will further back Moldova in promoting the reforms and processes of modernisation in the context of the European integration," he said.
The sides opted for deepening the collaboration in the context of the Moldova-USA Strategic Dialogue, launched in Washington in March 2014 and extending the cooperation area in different sectors. The officials voiced hope that the Moldovan-American ties would develop continuously and the bilateral collaboration would bring substantial benefits to people from the two states.
