Prime minister pays homage to participants in battles to defend Moldova's integrity, independence

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici has participated in events organised in the memory of the heroes who died to defend the integrity of Moldova, along with President Nicolae Timofti, cabinet members, politicians, combatants and others, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister laid flowers at the Grieving Mother monument from the Eternity memorial venue and noted that this event was a sign of respect for all those who participated in the war of Transnistria.
"We cannot forget those who died on the battlefield, those who fought for the independence, democracy and integrity of Moldova. I bow before all those who lost their lives, before parents and families who suffered, I bow before all those who fought and put their lives in danger", said Chiril Gaburici.
The prime minister assured that efforts would be made to meet the expectations of the fighters for the country's integrity in the future. This year, the participants in the war of Transnistria and the families of the deceased will receive assistance amounting to 1,000 lei each. About 500 people will benefit from this financial support.
Moldova marks the 23rd anniversary of the beginning of combat operations to defend the integrity and independence of the country today. The Victims of the War of Transnistria Remembrance Day was established by a decision passed in the parliament on 2 March 2010.
