Two road sectors to be restored in Moldova during next two years

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - Two road sectors of the Balti-Sarateni highway will be rehabilitated during the next two years. The works will be carried out by a Portuguese company. The concerned contract was signed in Chisinau today.
At a news conference, Transport and Road Infrastructure Minister Vasile Botnari said that the restoration of the two 30-km-long road segments will cost 36.3 million euros. The money was borrowed from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The works are expected to begin in two to three months. Thus, the workers will widen the road, landscape intersections and modernise pavements on the route Balti-Sarateni over the next two years. They will also build bridges, underground and surface water collection systems and reinforce embankment.
In 2015, the authorities plan to conduct tenders for the modernisation of 16 road sections, with a total length of 330 kilometres.
