European People's Party to back Moldova to implement reforms

Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/- European People's Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul has reaffirmed the support provided to the Moldovan government to continue the democratic reforms and strengthen the rule of law. Daul made a statement to this effect during a phone conversation with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, today.
The two officials discussed the social and political situation in Moldova and region, in the context of the latest events from Ukraine.
The sides highlighted the importance of ensuring political stability in Moldova, promoting pro-European reforms and implementing the provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU, a press release by the PLDM says.
"Vlad Filat requested that PLDM, as well as Moldova should be represented at the EPP Summit, due in Brussels on 19 March, by Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici," according to the communique.
