Moldovan foreign minister meets Romanian prime minister

Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman met Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta during her official visit to Bucharest, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials welcomed the launch of gas deliveries through the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline. "This is a first step to diversify Moldova’s natural gas supply routes and strengthen the energy security of the country," said Natalia Gherman. For his part, the Romanian prime minister noted that "it is important to turn to account the potential of the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline and ensure its extension to Chisinau".
The sides also exchanged opinions on the implementation of projects financed by the Romanian state in the fields of justice and home affairs, energy efficiency, agriculture, education, institutional capacity building and civil society development. The Romanian official reiterated his country’s support for the Moldovan government to continue its European integration and the commitment of the Romanian authorities to continue projects initiated by the two countries, to ensure their successful carrying out, as well as to expand the areas of cooperation.
Minister Natalia Gherman thanked for the constant support the Romanian government showed Moldova. The foreign minister spoke out for increasing exports of wine and agricultural products from Moldova and their promotion on the Romanian market, taking into account Romania’s responsiveness towards the Moldovan authorities’ requests in this regard. And this given that Romania became the main trading partner of Moldova in 2014, both in terms of exports, and in the total import volume.
