Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, on an official visit to Bucharest, and her Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu today co-chaired a meeting of the Moldova-Romania inter-governmental commission for European Integration. The event aims to support Moldova’s efforts to reform the key areas for further European integration, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The participants in the meeting highlighted the excellent cooperation in more areas at a sectoral level and identified priorities for 2015, particularly in such areas as legislation harmonisation, strengthening the rule of law, justice reform, home affairs, sustainable development of agriculture and ensuring food safety standards, which will contribute to the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
Minister Natalia Gherman thanked Romania for its substantial support provided for the European integration process and keeping Moldova on its foreign policy priorities' list.
"I am glad that, in Bucharest, we can discuss the process of Moldova European integration in the logic of pre-accession, or this is the finality of the major changes initiated by the Moldovan authorities," said Natalia Gherman.
The officials also discussed the events on the European agenda, namely the Moldova-EU Association Council and the tenth Meeting of the European Action Group for Moldova (GAERM), due in Brussels on 16 March, as well as the Eastern Partnership Summit, scheduled to take place in Riga in next May.
In the context of preparations for the Riga Summit, Romanian Minister Bogdan Aurescu said that "it is necessary to establish a clear European prospect for Moldova."
