Moldovan organ hall hosts ancient Chinese music concert in modern arrangement

Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/ - An ancient Chinese music concert in modern arrangement took place at the Organ Hall on 4 March. The musical performance was presented by the Chinese Classical Ensemble Impressions within the 49th issue of the Martisor International Festival.
Attending the event was Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Tong Mingtao. He said, inter alia, that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Moldova, bilateral ties had developed at a good pace and the pragmatic cooperation in various fields had yielded new results. "Cultural exchanges play an important role and have become a connection in terms of rapprochement and friendship relations between the two nations," said the Chinese official.
For his part, Deputy Culture Minister Gheorghe Postica pointed out that in recent years the Chinese Embassy had managed to promote more cultural projects in Moldova. "At the last year issue of the Martisor Festival, the famous China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe participated in the event. Today we have a band of traditional about 3,000 - 4,000-year old instruments. The music played by the wonderful orchestra will bring us even closer to the Chinese civilization," said Gheorghe Postica.
According to Organ Hall Director Larisa Zubcu, there was a well-developed musical culture since the beginning of the Chinese civilization. "According to recent archaeological discoveries, traditional Chinese music is dated back to 7,000 years. It impresses with its diversity and is different from traditional Western music, giving more importance to the form of expression", said Larisa Zubcu.
The Classical Impressions Ensemble is a chamber music band made up of interpreters playing traditional Chinese instruments. Its founder is Fan Weiqing, a Guzheng performer (ancient plucked stringed musical instrument similar to the zither). Band members are artists of the National Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra. Their goal is to revive ancient Chinese music and present it in modern arrangements, in the light of the neoclassical aesthetics.
Today, the Chinese band will present a show in Soroca today.
